By the end of this lesson, Audrey will be able to communicate effectively with familiar audiences for social and learning purposes through interaction, understanding, and presentation.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and colored pens
- Computer or tablet for research (if available)
- Quiet learning space
Prior to the lesson, make sure Audrey has a topic in mind that she is interested in sharing with others.
Activities
- Show and Tell: Have Audrey choose an object she loves and prepare a short presentation about it. Encourage her to share why she chose that object and what makes it special to her.
- Interview a Family Member: Ask Audrey to interview a family member about their favorite hobby or a memorable experience. She can then share the interview findings with you or other family members.
- Storytelling Time: Let Audrey create her own short story or retell a favorite story to practice engaging storytelling techniques.
Talking Points
- Communication: "Communication is how we share our thoughts and feelings with others. It's important to listen carefully and speak clearly."
- Understanding: "Understanding means we try to comprehend what others are saying. We can ask questions if we don't understand."
- Presentation: "When we present something, we share it with others. We can use pictures, words, or even actions to make our presentation interesting."
