Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to count from 1 to 10 confidently and recognize the numbers in fun and engaging ways.
Materials and Prep
- No materials are needed for this lesson.
- Be prepared to engage the student with enthusiasm and encouragement.
- Know the numbers from 1 to 10 and be ready to demonstrate counting using fingers, claps, and other body movements.
Activities
-
Counting Fingers:
Start by showing the student your fingers. Count each finger together, pointing to them as you go. Encourage the student to show their own fingers and count along.
-
Clap and Count:
Stand together and clap your hands. Count each clap out loud. You can make it a game by seeing how many claps you can do together while counting.
-
Jumping Count:
Jump in place and count each jump. You can say, "Let's jump 10 times and count each jump!" Make it fun by cheering after each jump.
-
Body Counts:
Use your body to count! Touch your toes, then your knees, and count each part as you go. This makes counting a fun physical activity!
Talking Points
- "Can you show me your fingers? Let's count them together!"
- "Every time we clap, let's say a number. Ready? One, two, three!"
- "Jumping is so much fun! How many jumps can we do? Let's count together!"
- "Can you touch your head and count? One, two, three... Great job!"
