Objective
By the end of this unit study, Wesley will be able to explore nature, appreciate its beauty, and express his thoughts and observations through writing, drawing, and creative arts in his Nature Study Backpack Journal. He will learn to observe the world around him and translate those experiences into creative expressions.

Before starting the lesson, ensure that Wesley is equipped with all materials listed above. Familiarize him with the supplemental nature books to spark his interest in various aspects of nature.
Activities

Nature Walk: Take a walk in a nearby park or natural area. Encourage Wesley to observe his surroundings closely. He can take notes in his notebook about what he sees, hears, and feels. This will be the first entry in his Nature Study Backpack Journal.

Nature Art: After the nature walk, Wesley can create a piece of art using the materials from his backpack. He can draw or paint a scene he enjoyed or create a collage using leaves, flowers, or other natural items he collected during the walk.

Creative Writing: Encourage Wesley to write a short story or poem inspired by his nature walk. He can describe his favorite moment, the animals he saw, or even create a fictional adventure involving nature.

Nature Journal Entry: Wesley can summarize his day by creating a journal entry. He can include sketches, written observations, and even attach small items like pressed flowers or leaves.
