Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to define paranormal activity, identify various types of paranormal phenomena, and engage in fun discussions about their own beliefs and experiences related to the supernatural.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen for taking notes
  • A flashlight (for the "ghost hunt" activity)
  • A smartphone or tablet (for research on paranormal topics)
  • Access to a safe outdoor area (for the "ghost hunt")
  • Prepare a list of common paranormal terms (ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, etc.)

Activities

  • Paranormal Research

The student will use their smartphone or tablet to research different types of paranormal phenomena, such as ghosts, UFOs, and cryptids. They will write down interesting facts and share them with you.

  • Ghost Hunt

With a flashlight in hand, the student will conduct a "ghost hunt" in a safe outdoor area. They will look for signs of paranormal activity, such as unusual noises or shadows, and document their findings in their notebook.

  • Storytelling Session

The student will create and share their own paranormal story. Encourage them to use their imagination and incorporate elements from their research. They can present their story like a spooky campfire tale!

  • Discussion and Reflection

At the end of the lesson, engage in a discussion about what the student learned. Ask them about their beliefs regarding the paranormal and if they have ever had any experiences they would like to share.

Talking Points

  • "What do you think paranormal activity means? It’s all about things we can't easily explain!"
  • "Can you name some types of paranormal phenomena? Think about ghosts, aliens, or even Bigfoot!"
  • "Why do you think people are fascinated by the paranormal? Is it the mystery, the fear, or something else?"
  • "Have you ever heard a ghost story? What did you think about it? Was it scary or exciting?"
  • "If you could investigate any paranormal event, what would it be? Why does that interest you?"
  • "Remember, whether we believe in the paranormal or not, it’s fun to explore and learn about the unknown!"
