Objective
By the end of this lesson, Jaxon will be able to identify and name basic colors and shapes through engaging activities and play. He will also have fun while learning, making the concepts memorable and enjoyable.
Materials and Prep
No additional materials are needed for this lesson. Just ensure a comfortable space for Jaxon to move around and explore. You might want to prepare some colorful objects around the house that represent different shapes and colors.
Activities
-
Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house! Ask Jaxon to find objects of specific colors. For example, "Can you find something red?" This will help him recognize colors in his environment.
-
Shape Sorting: Create a fun game by asking Jaxon to find items that match specific shapes. For example, "Can you find something round?" This encourages him to look closely at the shapes around him.
-
Color and Shape Dance: Play some music and have a dance party! When the music stops, call out a color or shape, and Jaxon can freeze in a pose that represents that color or shape. This combines movement with learning!
-
Art Time: Use crayons or markers (if available) and encourage Jaxon to draw different shapes and color them in. You can guide him by saying, "Let's make a big red circle!"
Talking Points
- "Look at this color! What color is it?"
- "Can you find something that is a circle? Great job!"
- "Let's dance! When I say a color, can you show me that color with your body?"
- "What shape do you see? Is it a triangle or a square?"
- "Wow, you found a blue square! You are so good at this!"
