Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice basic arithmetic skills using blue playdough and rollers.

Materials and Prep

  • Blue playdough
  • Rollers

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Roll and Count: Roll the blue playdough into small balls and count them aloud. Practice counting from 1 to 10.
  2. Addition with Playdough: Take two different-sized balls of blue playdough. Combine them together and count the total. Repeat with different combinations.
  3. Subtraction with Playdough: Start with a larger ball of blue playdough. Pinch off a smaller piece and count how much is left. Repeat with different starting amounts and subtract different quantities.
  4. Shape Creation: Roll the blue playdough into different shapes using the rollers. Count the number of sides and corners on each shape.
