Objective
By the end of this lesson, Gabriella will have engaged in a variety of physical activities that promote movement, coordination, and fun. She will explore swimming-like movements, enjoy creative arts, and participate in a dance party, all while developing her physical skills and having a blast!
Materials and Prep
- No special materials needed, just a safe space to move around.
- Ensure the area is clear of obstacles for walking and biking.
- Prepare a soft surface for dancing and any art activities.
- Have a water source available if doing hydrotherapy (like a small pool or bathtub).
Activities
-
Hydrotherapy Fun:
Gabriella can splash and play in water, practicing her swimming-like movements. Encourage her to kick her legs like a frog and move her arms like she's swimming!
-
Art & Cooking Exploration:
Set up a space for Gabriella to engage in messy play with safe, edible materials. She can mix colors with finger paints or pretend to cook with safe kitchen items, promoting both creativity and motor skills.
-
Dance Party:
Put on some fun music and have a dance party! Encourage Gabriella to move her body, jump, and twirl around. This will help her develop rhythm and coordination.
-
Walking Dogs Adventure:
Take a walk with Gabriella and pretend to walk dogs. This can be a fun way to explore the outdoors while practicing walking skills. Aim for a distance that feels comfortable for her.
-
Bicycle Legs:
While sitting or lying down, Gabriella can practice moving her legs in a bicycle motion. This will help strengthen her legs and improve coordination.
-
Frog Kick Practice:
On a soft surface, Gabriella can practice her frog kicks. This can be done while lying on her tummy and kicking her legs out behind her, imitating a swimming motion.
-
Biking Fun:
If Gabriella has a tricycle or bike, take her for a short ride. Aim for a distance of 1-2 km, allowing her to pedal and enjoy the scenery.
