Objective

By the end of this lesson, Rylee will be able to recognize the letter "A," identify words that start with "A," and explore art, history, and science concepts associated with the letter "A" through fun activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Space for physical activities
  • A comfortable area for storytelling
  • Outdoor space for science exploration

Before the lesson, prepare a small area for art and storytelling. Make sure there is enough space for physical activities and outdoor exploration.

Activities

  • Art Activity: "A is for Apple" Drawing

    Rylee will draw an apple and color it in. Discuss how apple starts with the letter "A." Encourage creativity by suggesting different colors for the apple.

  • English Activity: "A Word Hunt"

    Go on a word hunt around the house or yard to find objects that start with the letter "A," like "apple," "ant," or "airplane." Rylee can point them out and say the words aloud.

  • History Activity: "A is for Ancient Animals"

    Tell Rylee a fun story about ancient animals like dinosaurs. Ask if she can think of any words that start with "A" related to the story.

  • Physical Education Activity: "Animal Actions"

    Play a game where Rylee mimics animals that start with "A," like an alligator or an ant. This will help her move and have fun while learning!

  • Science Activity: "A is for Air"

    Go outside and feel the wind. Discuss how air is all around us. Rylee can blow bubbles or feel the breeze to understand air better.
