Objective
By the end of this lesson, Ellianna will be able to identify and count numbers from 1 to 10 through engaging activities that make learning fun and interactive.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are required; just a space to play and learn.
- Be ready to use your voice and actions to make counting exciting!
Activities
-
Counting with Fingers: Start by showing Ellianna your fingers. Count each finger out loud together, saying, "One, two, three..." and encourage her to do the same. This helps her associate numbers with physical objects.
-
Number Walk: Go on a little walk around the house or yard and count items you see. For example, "Look! One flower, two butterflies, three leaves!" This will help her learn numbers in a real-world context.
-
Jumping Numbers: Call out a number and jump that many times together. For instance, if you say "Four," both of you jump four times. This combines physical activity with counting!
-
Sing a Counting Song: Choose a simple counting song (like "Five Little Ducks") and sing together. Encourage her to join in and count along with you, making it a fun musical activity.
Talking Points
- "Can you show me one finger? Great job! Now let’s count together!"
- "Look at that! How many flowers do you see? Let’s count them together!"
- "Let’s jump! Can you jump three times? One, two, three! Yay!"
- "Let’s sing our counting song! How many ducks did we see? One, two, three, four, five!"
