Objective
By the end of this lesson, Daniella and Alisia will be able to identify various animals from different regions of the world, understand their habitats, and explain how geography influences animal life. They will also create a fun project showcasing their favorite animals and where they live!
Materials and Prep
- Paper or a notebook for notes and drawings
- Colored pencils or markers
- Access to a globe or world map (can be printed from the internet)
- Animal flashcards (can be homemade or drawn)
- List of animals categorized by continent (can be prepared beforehand)
Before starting the lesson, make sure to have a list of interesting animals from each continent ready to share with Daniella and Alisia. This will help them learn about the diversity of animal life around the globe.
Activities
-
Animal Exploration Map:
Daniella and Alisia will use a globe or map to locate different continents. They will then choose one animal from each continent to research and draw. This activity will help them visualize where animals live around the world.
-
Animal Habitat Diorama:
Using paper and colored pencils, the girls will create a diorama representing the habitat of their favorite animal. They can include details like the climate, vegetation, and other animals that live in the same area.
-
Animal Charades:
In this fun game, Daniella and Alisia will take turns acting out different animals without using words, while the other tries to guess which animal it is. This will reinforce their learning about animal characteristics and behaviors.
-
Animal Fact Presentation:
Each girl will choose an animal to research and present to the other. They can include fun facts about where the animal lives, what it eats, and any interesting behaviors. This will help improve their presentation skills and deepen their understanding.
