Objective
By the end of this lesson, RR will improve their spelling skills by learning and practicing new words through engaging activities. They will be able to spell at least five new words correctly and understand their meanings.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil
- Colored markers or crayons
- Timer (optional)
Before the lesson, prepare a list of 10 spelling words that are age-appropriate and interesting to RR. Make sure to include words related to RR's interests, if possible.
Activities
-
Word Art:
RR will choose five spelling words from the list and create colorful artwork using colored markers or crayons. They can write each word in big letters and decorate them with drawings related to the words.
-
Spelling Bee:
Have a mini spelling bee where you say a word, and RR spells it out loud. You can use a timer to make it more exciting, giving them 30 seconds to spell each word. If they get it right, they earn a point!
-
Word Hunt:
Hide the spelling words around the house. RR will go on a word hunt to find them. Once they find a word, they must spell it out loud and write it down on paper.
-
Story Time:
RR will write a short story using at least five of the spelling words. Encourage them to be creative and have fun with their story. After they finish, they can read it aloud.
