Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different types of dinosaurs, understand where they lived on a world map, and recognize some of their unique characteristics using the dinosaur figures.
Materials and Prep
- A dinosaur-themed book
- A world map
- Dinosaur figures
Before the lesson, read through the dinosaur book to familiarize yourself with the names and facts about various dinosaurs. Make sure the world map is accessible and that the dinosaur figures are ready for use during the activities.
Activities
-
Dinosaur Discovery Time:
Start by reading the dinosaur book together. Pause after each dinosaur to discuss its name, what it looked like, and where it lived. Encourage the student to ask questions and share what they think about each dinosaur.
-
Map Exploration:
Using the world map, help the student find where different dinosaurs lived. Point out continents and countries, and place the dinosaur figures on the map to show their habitats.
-
Dinosaur Figure Play:
Let the student play with the dinosaur figures. Encourage them to create a scene with the figures and describe what the dinosaurs might be doing. Ask them to make up stories about their dinosaurs' adventures!
