Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and name basic colors, as well as associate them with objects in their environment.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed for this lesson; just the student and their surroundings.
- Before the lesson, make sure to observe the colors present in your home and outside. Think of common objects that represent different colors.
Activities
-
Color Hunt:
Take a walk around the house or outside and look for objects of different colors. Encourage the student to point to or pick up items as you name their colors.
-
Color Sorting:
Gather a few items of various colors (like toys or household items), and help the student sort them into groups based on their colors.
-
Color Dance:
Play a fun game where you call out a color and dance around the house to find something of that color. Celebrate when you find it!
-
Color Song:
Sing a simple song about colors, using familiar tunes. For example, sing "Twinkle, Twinkle" and change the lyrics to include different colors.
