  • Onion (chopped)
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Salt and pepper

Before starting, make sure to wash your hands and all vegetables. Familiarize yourself with the stove and oven settings for safety.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Chopping and Preparing Ingredients - Nadia will practice her knife skills by chopping the onion and mincing the garlic. This is a great opportunity to learn about the importance of uniform cutting for even cooking.

  • Activity 2: Cooking the Filling - In this activity, Nadia will cook the ground turkey in a frying pan, adding the chopped onion and garlic. She will learn about browning meat and the aromas that develop during cooking.

  • Activity 3: Boiling and Mashing Potatoes - Nadia will peel and chop potatoes before boiling them until tender, then she will mash them with butter and milk. This will teach her about texture and flavor in mashed potatoes.

  • Activity 4: Assembling the Pie - Finally, Nadia will combine the cooked turkey and beans, layer them in the pie dish, and top them with her creamy mashed potatoes. This will help her understand the layering and presentation of a dish.

  • Activity 5: Baking the Pie - Nadia will place the assembled pie in the oven and learn about baking times and temperatures, as well as the importance of monitoring food while it cooks.
