Hey Brodi! Let's Dive into First Aid!

Alright, let's get started on your First Aid journey with Wave Learning! This isn't just about ticking a box; it's about gaining super-valuable skills that could genuinely help someone someday. Think of yourself as becoming a real-life superhero-in-training!

Why First Aid is Awesome (Seriously!)

Knowing first aid gives you the confidence to step up when things get tough. Whether it's a minor cut or something more serious, being prepared makes a huge difference. Plus, it looks great on college/job applications and makes you a generally awesome human to have around!

Your Mission: Wave Learning First Aid Course

Today, we'll kick things off by exploring the initial modules of your Wave Learning course. We'll focus on:

  1. The Basics: What *is* first aid? Why is it important? What are the key rules (like staying safe yourself!)?
  2. Assessing the Scene: How to check if an area is safe before you jump in to help.
  3. Calling for Help: Knowing *when* and *how* to call emergency services effectively.
  4. Intro to Common Emergencies: Getting familiar with the first steps for things like bleeding, choking, and basic life support concepts (as introduced in the early Wave modules).

Activity: Log In & Explore!

1. Go to the Wave Learning platform and log into your account.
2. Navigate to the First Aid course.
3. Spend about 30-45 minutes working through the first module(s). Pay attention to videos, quizzes, and key takeaways.
4. In your notebook, jot down at least 3 things that surprised you or that you found particularly important.

Scenario Time! (Thinking Cap On!)

Let's imagine: You're hanging out at the park and see someone trip and scrape their knee quite badly. It's bleeding a fair bit.

Based *only* on what you've learned so far (even if it's just the intro!), what are the absolute FIRST things you should think about or do? (Hint: Think about safety and getting help!)

Jot down your thoughts in your notebook. We'll discuss this more as you progress through the course.

Wrap Up & Next Steps

Great job getting started, Brodi! Today was about setting the stage. Continue working through the Wave Learning modules at your own pace. Remember, understanding the 'why' and the basic principles is key before learning specific techniques.

Next session preview: We'll dive deeper into specific procedures covered in the upcoming Wave Learning modules, like controlling bleeding and managing burns. Keep up the great work!
