  • Small plants or flowers
  • Decorative materials (pebbles, mini figurines, etc.)
  • Watering can or spray bottle
  • Scissors
  • Construction paper
  • Markers or crayons

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Introduction: Discuss the concept of government and citizenship. Explain that just like citizens have roles and responsibilities in a community, fairies also have their own community and rules.
  2. Fairy Garden Planning: Help the student plan their fairy garden by drawing a design on construction paper. Discuss what elements they would like to include and how they can create a welcoming and functional fairy community.
  3. Building the Fairy Garden: Use the small flower pot or container as the base for the fairy garden. Assist the student in filling it with soil or potting mix. Then, help them plant the small plants or flowers according to their design.
  4. Decorating the Fairy Garden: Encourage the student to use the decorative materials to add charm and personality to their fairy garden. They can create pathways, arrange pebbles, and place mini figurines to bring their design to life.
  5. Caring for the Fairy Garden: Teach the student how to water the plants in their fairy garden using a watering can or spray bottle. Explain the importance of taking care of their garden, just like citizens have a responsibility to take care of their community.
