Objective
By the end of this lesson, the first grade student will be able to understand basic fire safety practices and develop an appreciation for the role of firefighters in our community.
Materials and Prep

- Printed pictures of firefighters and fire trucks
- Blank paper and crayons/markers
Activities
Start by discussing what the student already knows about fire. Ask questions like:
- What is fire?
- Why is fire dangerous?
- What should you do if you see a fire?
Encourage the student to share their thoughts and experiences.
Show the printed pictures of firefighters and fire trucks. Explain that firefighters are brave people who help keep us safe when there is a fire. Discuss the different tools and equipment firefighters use.
Using the internet, find and watch a short video about fire safety for kids. After watching, discuss the important safety tips mentioned in the video.
Ask the student to draw a picture of a firefighter and a fire truck. Encourage them to include details they have learned during the lesson.
