Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore subjective and objective viewpoints in art appreciation, analyze artwork by Rembrandt, and create a chart to display the results of a survey on people's opinions about different art pieces.

Materials and Prep

  • Artist unit workbook
  • Sketchbook or paper for sketching and taking notes
  • Pen or pencil
  • List of family and friends for the survey

Activities

  1. Listen to the day's lesson and engage in sketching and note-taking while listening.
  2. Read pages 22-23 of the artist unit workbook to learn about subjective and objective viewpoints in art appreciation.
  3. Read pages 24-25 in the artist unit workbook and answer all the questions related to Rembrandt's artwork.
  4. Select three examples of Rembrandt's art and ask at least 10 people (family and friends) which artwork they find the most beautiful. Write down their answers and collect the data.
  5. Create a chart to visually represent the results of the survey. Include the names of the 10 people and their corresponding answers.
