Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell and recognize common words.
Materials and Prep
- Whiteboard or paper
- Markers or pencils
- List of common words
Activities
-
Word Hunt: Write down a list of common words on the whiteboard or paper. Ask your child to find the words around the house or in a book. When they find a word, they should spell it out loud and write it down.
-
Spelling Race: Create a race between you and your child. Take turns saying a word out loud, and both of you should try to spell it as quickly as possible. The first one to spell the word correctly gets a point. Keep track of the points and see who wins!
-
Word Scramble: Write down a word on the whiteboard or paper, but scramble the letters. Ask your child to unscramble the letters and spell the word correctly. You can also take turns scrambling and unscrambling words.
