Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to engage with a book by listening to a story and answering simple questions about the story.
Materials and Prep
- A children's book of the toddler's choice
- A comfortable reading area
Activities
- Introduce the book to the toddler, showing them the cover and asking them to guess what the story might be about.
- Read the story aloud to the toddler, using expressive voices and gestures to make it engaging.
- Pause occasionally during the reading to ask the toddler simple questions about the story, such as "What color is the main character's hat?" or "Who is the main character's friend?"
- Encourage the toddler to participate by answering the questions and discussing their thoughts and feelings about the story.
- After finishing the book, ask the toddler to retell the story in their own words, using the pictures as prompts.
