Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify different types of birds and understand their basic characteristics.
Materials and Prep
- Pen or pencil
- Blank paper or a notebook
- Computer or tablet with internet access (optional for further research)
No specific prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Start by brainstorming with your student about different types of birds they know. Write down their answers on the paper or in the notebook.
-
Using the internet or bird identification books (if available), help your student identify and draw five different types of birds. Encourage them to pay attention to the birds' colors, shapes, sizes, and any unique features they may have.
-
Discuss the characteristics of the birds they drew. Ask questions like: What colors did you use? Are the birds big or small? Do they have long beaks or short beaks? Do they have any special markings?
-
Encourage your student to share their drawings and talk about what they learned about each bird.
