Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and understand basic grammar concepts.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons/markers
- Pictures or flashcards with simple objects
- Optional: A children's book with clear examples of grammar concepts
Activities
-
Activity 1: Parts of Speech
Draw different objects on the paper and ask your child to label them with the corresponding parts of speech. For example, draw a cat and ask them to write "noun" next to it. Repeat with other objects and different parts of speech.
-
Activity 2: Sentence Building
Show your child pictures or flashcards with simple objects. Ask them to create sentences using the objects. Encourage them to use different parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Write down their sentences and read them together.
-
Activity 3: Grammar Hunt
Read a children's book together and ask your child to find examples of different grammar concepts. For example, ask them to find a sentence with a question mark or a sentence with an exclamation mark. Discuss the examples they find and explain the grammar rules behind them.
