Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to understand the importance of healthy food choices and engage in physical activities to stay healthy.
Materials and Prep
- Various food pictures or real food items
- Open space for physical activities
- Basic knowledge of different food groups
Activities
Food Sorting: Show the toddler different food pictures or items and ask them to sort them into healthy and unhealthy categories.
Food Group Dance: Assign a food group to different dance moves (e.g. fruits - jumping, vegetables - spinning) and have the toddler perform the moves while naming the food group.
Obstacle Course: Set up a simple obstacle course with pillows, cushions, and other safe household items. Encourage the toddler to navigate the course while pretending to be different types of food (e.g. "You're a banana, can you slither like a banana through the course?").
