Objective
By the end of this lesson, the Grade 1 student will be able to type a letter using a computer keyboard.
Materials and Prep
- A computer or laptop
- An internet connection
- A word processing software, such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs
- A printer (optional)
- Basic knowledge of the alphabet and how to operate a computer
Activities

Introduce the concept of typing a letter to the student. Explain that they will be using a computer keyboard to write a letter.

Review the layout of a computer keyboard with the student. Point out the letters, numbers, and special keys such as Shift, Enter, and Backspace.

Guide the student in opening a word processing software on the computer.

Encourage the student to think about the content of their letter. Help them brainstorm ideas and organize their thoughts.

Show the student how to type the letter on the computer. Demonstrate how to press the keys and use the Enter key to create new lines.

Assist the student in formatting the letter, such as changing font size or adding bold or italic styles.

If the student wants to print the letter, guide them in using the print function of the word processing software.
