Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the causes and major events of World War 1 and analyze its impact on the world.

Activities

  1. Research Activity: Have the student use the internet or available resources to research and create a timeline of the major events leading up to and during World War 1. They should include the causes, key battles, and important treaties or agreements.

  2. Primary Source Analysis: Provide the student with a selection of primary sources such as letters, photographs, or newspaper articles from World War 1. Have them analyze and discuss the perspectives and experiences of people involved in the war.

  3. Map Activity: Using a world map or an online map tool, have the student identify and label the countries involved in World War 1. They can also mark the major battle sites and discuss the significance of different locations.

  4. Role Play: Divide the student into groups and assign them different roles, such as a soldier, a nurse, a diplomat, or a civilian during World War 1. Have them engage in a discussion or act out a scene to understand the challenges and perspectives of different individuals during the war.
