Objective

By the end of this lesson, your child will be able to recognize and say the alphabet letters A to Z.

Materials and Prep

  • Alphabet flashcards or handmade alphabet cards
  • Colorful markers or crayons
  • Clear space for movement activities

No prior knowledge required. Just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn!

Activities

  • Alphabet Hunt: Hide the alphabet cards around the room and encourage your child to find them while saying the letter out loud.
  • Letter Coloring: Let your child color the alphabet cards with different colors while repeating the letter names.
  • Letter Hopscotch: Create a simple hopscotch game with alphabet letters on the floor. Have your child jump to each letter while saying them aloud.

  • Letter A: "A is for apple! Can you say 'A' like in apple?"
  • Letter B: "B is for bear! Can you make a big bear sound like 'B'?"
  • Letter C: "C is for cat! Let's meow like a cat for 'C'!"
  • Letter D: "D is for duck! Can you quack like a duck for 'D'?"
  • Letter E: "E is for elephant! Let's make a big elephant sound for 'E'!"
  • Letter F: "F is for fish! Can you make a fishy face for 'F'?"
  • Letter G: "G is for gorilla! Let's beat our chest like a gorilla for 'G'!"
  • Letter H: "H is for hat! Can you pretend to wear a hat for 'H'?"
  • Letter I: "I is for igloo! Let's shiver like we're cold for 'I'!"
  • Letter J: "J is for jellyfish! Can you wiggle your arms like a jellyfish for 'J'?"
  • Letter K: "K is for kangaroo! Let's jump like a kangaroo for 'K'!"
  • Letter L: "L is for lion! Can you roar like a lion for 'L'?"
  • Letter M: "M is for monkey! Let's scratch our heads like a monkey for 'M'!"
  • Letter N: "N is for nest! Can you pretend to build a nest for 'N'?"
  • Letter O: "O is for octopus! Let's wiggle our fingers like an octopus for 'O'!"
