Activities
- Activity 1: Choose a newspaper article and read it carefully. Take notes on the main points and interesting facts.
- Activity 2: Analyze the layout of the article. Identify the headline, byline, lead paragraph, and accompanying images.
- Activity 3: Create a mini newspaper layout on paper. Include a headline, byline, lead paragraph, and an image. Write a short article to go along with the layout.
Encourage Kadie to think about the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the article.
Discuss with Kadie why each element is important in capturing the reader's attention.
Encourage Kadie to be creative and use colorful markers or pens to make the layout visually appealing.
