No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Beginning Level: Have the student read simple sentences and identify basic sight words. Encourage them to sound out words phonetically.
- Intermediate Level: Introduce short paragraphs with more complex words. Ask the student to summarize what they have read and identify key details.
- Expert Level: Provide a short story for the student to read independently. Have them answer comprehension questions and make predictions about the story's outcome.
Talking Points
- "Let's start with the beginning level. Can you read this sentence out loud for me?"
- "Now, moving on to the intermediate level. How would you summarize the main idea of this paragraph?"
- "For the expert level, I want you to read this story quietly and then we'll discuss your predictions. What do you think will happen next?"
