Objective
By the end of this lesson, Wyld will be able to recognize numbers, practice simple addition, read a short story, and create a colorful unicorn drawing. This will help improve his math, reading, and art skills while having fun with his favorite themes!
Materials and Prep
- Paper (for drawing and writing)
- Colored crayons or markers (especially pink and other favorite colors)
- A short story about unicorns (can be read aloud)
- A simple addition worksheet (can be created on paper)
- Time set aside for each activity
Activities
-
Story Time: Read a short story about unicorns together. Wyld can help turn the pages and point out pictures. Ask questions about the story to encourage engagement.
-
Math Fun: Create a simple addition worksheet with unicorn-themed problems. For example, "If you have 2 pink unicorns and 3 blue unicorns, how many unicorns do you have in total?" Help Wyld count and write the answers.
-
Unicorn Art: Using crayons or markers, Wyld can draw his own unicorn. Encourage him to use lots of colors, especially pink! After drawing, he can tell a short story about his unicorn.
Talking Points
- "What do you think makes a unicorn special?"
- "Can you count how many unicorns you see in the picture?"
- "Let’s add these numbers together. How many unicorns do we have?"
- "What colors will you use to make your unicorn look amazing?"
- "Can you tell me a story about your unicorn? What adventures does it go on?"
