Objective
By the end of this lesson, Amelia will have fun exploring different ways to read and recognize letters and words through engaging activities. She will develop a love for reading while improving her reading skills in a stress-free environment.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Colored markers or crayons
- Sticky notes
- Magnetic letters (if available) or cut-out letters from paper
- Access to a comfortable reading space
Before the lesson, make sure to create a cozy reading area with minimal distractions. Prepare a few words or short sentences on sticky notes to use in the activities.
Activities
- Letter Hunt: Hide letters around the room. Amelia will go on a treasure hunt to find them and say each letter out loud when she finds it. This will help her recognize letters in a fun way!
- Story Time with a Twist: Choose a favorite story and read it together. Pause at certain words and let Amelia guess what comes next or fill in the blanks. This encourages her to think about the sounds and meanings of words.
- Word Art: Have Amelia create colorful art using letters and words. She can write her name or favorite words with markers and decorate them. This makes learning personal and enjoyable!
- Sticky Note Challenge: Write simple words on sticky notes and place them around the room. Ask Amelia to read each word as she finds them, turning it into a fun scavenger hunt!
