Objective
By the end of this lesson, RR will improve their reading skills by engaging with a fun story, enhancing their vocabulary, and practicing comprehension through interactive activities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and colored pencils or crayons
- A comfortable reading space
- A short story or a favorite book (which RR can read aloud)
- Access to a timer (can be a phone or a clock)
Activities
- Story Time: RR will read a short story or a chapter from their favorite book aloud. This will help with pronunciation and fluency.
- Illustrate the Story: After reading, RR will draw their favorite scene from the story. This encourages creativity and helps them visualize the text.
- Vocabulary Treasure Hunt: RR will choose 5 new words from the story and create a "treasure map" using these words. They will write sentences for each word to show their understanding.
- Character Interview: RR will pick a character from the story and pretend to interview them. They can write down questions and answers, practicing dialogue and comprehension.
