Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have explored the joy of free reading, discovered new stories, and expressed their thoughts about what they read through fun activities.
Materials and Prep
- Comfortable reading space
- Selection of books (any available books at home)
- Blank paper and colored pencils or crayons
- Timer (optional)
Before starting the lesson, ensure that the reading space is quiet and cozy, allowing the student to focus on their reading. Have a variety of books available that cater to their interests.
Activities

Reading Time:
Set a timer for 20 minutes and let the student choose any book they like. Encourage them to read quietly and enjoy the story. After reading, ask them to share their favorite part.

Book Drawing:
After reading, have the student draw a scene or character from the book they read. This helps them express their understanding and creativity.

Story Retelling:
Ask the student to tell you the story they just read in their own words. This will help them practice their speaking skills and reinforce comprehension.

Book Review:
Have the student write or dictate a short review of the book, including what they liked, what they didn’t like, and if they would recommend it to a friend.
