Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
- A short story (can be a simple one created by the teacher)

Before the lesson, prepare a short story that is engaging and age-appropriate. Make sure the story has clear characters and events for easy discussion.
Activities
-
Read Aloud:
The student will read the short story aloud. This helps with pronunciation and fluency. Encourage them to use different voices for different characters!
-
Character Drawing:
After reading, the student will draw their favorite character from the story. They can label the drawing with a few words describing the character.
-
Story Retelling:
The student will retell the story in their own words. This can be done verbally or by writing it down. Encourage them to add their own twist to the story!
-
