Activities

  1. Introduction to Anime Grammar: Start by discussing with the student what anime is and why they enjoy reading it. Explain that anime often uses unique grammar structures and expressions that are different from standard English. Show examples from anime books or online resources, highlighting the grammar features.
  2. Identify Grammar Concepts: Ask the student to identify specific grammar concepts they notice in the anime text. Encourage them to look for verb tenses, sentence structures, pronouns, and any other grammar elements they can identify. Discuss their findings together.
  3. Create Dialogue: Have the student create a short dialogue between two anime characters. Encourage them to incorporate the grammar concepts they have identified. They can write it down on paper or type it out using a word processor.
  4. Grammar Review: Review the dialogue together and identify any errors or areas for improvement. Discuss how the grammar concepts can be applied correctly. Provide guidance and suggestions to enhance the dialogue.
  5. Practice and Share: Have the student practice reading the dialogue aloud, paying attention to correct pronunciation and intonation. Once they feel confident, ask them to perform the dialogue for you or record it as a voice recording.
