Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and associate each letter of the alphabet with a visual representation of an object or concept related to visual arts or art appreciation.

Materials and Prep

  • Whiteboard or large paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Alphabet flashcards or chart

Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of the alphabet and ability to recognize letters.

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of associating letters with visual representations by showing the student an alphabet flashcard or chart.

Ask the student to name the letter and then provide a visual representation of an object or concept related to visual arts or art appreciation that starts with that letter.

  2. Write the letter on the whiteboard or large paper and draw the visual representation next to it.

Encourage the student to participate by attempting to draw the object or concept themselves.
