Materials and Prep
- A storybook suitable for toddlers
- Flashcards with pictures of objects and characters from the storybook
- A quiet and comfortable reading area
Activities
- Story Time: Begin by reading the selected storybook aloud to the toddler, emphasizing the illustrations and pointing out different objects and characters.
- Object Matching: After reading the story, show the toddler the flashcards one by one and ask them to match each card with the corresponding object or character from the storybook.
- Retelling the Story: Encourage the toddler to retell the story using their own words, focusing on key events and characters.
- Question and Answer: Ask the toddler simple comprehension questions about the story, such as "Who was the main character?" or "What happened at the beginning of the story?"
- Acting Out the Story: Invite the toddler to act out scenes from the story using their imagination and props, if available.
