Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and name colors, letters, and objects associated with them. They will also practice basic writing skills by tracing letters.
Materials and Prep
- Colorful flashcards with letters and corresponding objects (e.g., A for Apple, B for Ball)
- A whiteboard or large sheet of paper with markers or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around the house or outside. Encourage the toddler to find objects of different colors and name them. For example, "Can you find something red?" or "What color is this toy car?"
- Letter Matching: Show the toddler the flashcards with letters and objects. Ask them to match the letters with the corresponding objects. For example, if they see the letter A, they should find the flashcard with an apple.
- Tracing Letters: Using the whiteboard or large sheet of paper, demonstrate how to trace letters using a marker or crayon. Start with simple letters like A, B, or C. Encourage the toddler to try tracing the letters themselves.
Toddler Grade Talking Points
- "Colors make our world beautiful! Can you tell me your favorite color?"
- "Look at this flashcard! The letter A is for apple. Can you say apple?"
- "Let's go on a color hunt! Can you find something blue?"
- "Do you see the letter B? What object does it match? That's right, a ball!"
- "Now it's time to practice writing. Watch me trace the letter A. Can you try tracing it too?"
