Objective

By the end of this lesson, the second grade student will be able to introduce themselves, count from 1 to 10, and greet others in Spanish.

Materials and Prep

  • Whiteboard or paper
  • Markers or pencils
  • Spanish vocabulary flashcards (optional)

No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

Activities

  1. Introduce basic greetings: Teach the student how to say "Hola" (hello) and "Adiós" (goodbye). Practice saying these greetings together.
  2. Teach numbers 1 to 10: Write the numbers 1 to 10 on the whiteboard or paper. Pronounce each number in Spanish and have the student repeat after you. Practice counting together.
  3. Introduce self-introduction: Teach the student how to say "Me llamo [name]" (My name is [name]). Have the student practice introducing themselves using their own name.
  4. Role-play conversations: Create simple dialogues using the learned vocabulary and phrases. Have the student take turns playing different roles, such as greeting each other, introducing themselves, and counting to each other.
  5. Review and reinforce: Use flashcards or write down the vocabulary and phrases learned during the lesson. Quiz the student by showing them the word or phrase in English and asking them to say it in Spanish.
