Materials and Prep
- A children's book
- Index cards or small pieces of paper
- Markers or crayons
No additional preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Start by reading a children's book aloud to your toddler. Choose a book with colorful illustrations and simple sentences.
- After reading the book, ask your toddler to identify objects or animals they saw in the story. Write down their responses on index cards or small pieces of paper.
- Once you have a few cards, place them face down on the floor or table. Ask your toddler to pick a card and name the object or animal on it.
- Encourage your toddler to use their imagination and make up a story or describe what the object or animal is doing.
- Repeat the activity with different cards, allowing your toddler to take turns picking and describing the objects or animals.
