Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and read common blends in words.
Materials and Prep
- Whiteboard or paper and markers
- List of blend words (e.g. bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl, br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr)
- Preparation: Familiarize yourself with the blend words and their sounds.
Activities
Introduce a blend word (e.g. "bl") and write it on the whiteboard. Ask the student to say the sound of the blend and think of words that start with that blend.
Play a game of "Blend Bingo" where the student has to find and mark words with the given blend sound in a list of words.
Create a blend word hunt around the house. Write blend words on small cards and hide them in different places. The student has to find and read the blend words.
