Materials and Prep

- Whiteboard or large piece of paper
- Markers or crayons

Activities
- Flashcard Match-Up: Show the student a flashcard with a picture of an object and ask them to find the matching word flashcard. Repeat with different flashcards.
- Word Tracing: Write simple words on the whiteboard or paper and ask the student to trace them with their finger or a marker/crayon.
- Word Hunt: Hide flashcards around the room and ask the student to find them. Once they find a flashcard, have them read the word aloud.
- Story Time: Read a short story or picture book to the student, emphasizing the words and encouraging them to follow along.

- "Today, we are going to have fun learning how to read!"
- "Look at this picture of a cat. Can you find the word 'cat' on the flashcards?"
- "Let's practice writing the word 'cat' on the whiteboard. Follow the lines with your finger or marker/crayon."
